The Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) credential highlights your job role,
featuring your specific area of expertise. Now you can easily distinguish yourself
as an expert in Windows development, Web application development,
or enterprise applications development. There are three MCPD certification paths:

MCPD: Web Developer
The Microsoft Certified Professional Developer: Web Developer (MCPD: Web
Developer) certification demonstrates that you have the skills that are
required to build interactive, data-driven Web apps that use ASP.NET 2.0 for
both intranet and Internet uses.
Candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: .NET Framework
2.0 Web Applications certification (two exams). Then candidates may earn
their MCPD: Web Developer by passing one additional required exam.
- MCPD: Windows Developer
The
Microsoft Certified Professional Developer: Windows Developer (MCPD: Windows
Developer) certification demonstrates that you have the skills required to
build rich client applications that target the Windows Forms platform using
the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.
Candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: .NET Framework
2.0 Windows Applications certification (two exams). Then candidates can earn
their MCPD: Windows Developer by passing one additional exam.

MCPD: Enterprise Applications Developer
The Microsoft Certified Professional Developer: Windows Developer
(MCPD: Enterprise Applications Developer) certification demonstrates that you have the
skills required to build n-tier solutions that target both Web and rich-client user experiences.
Candidates must first meet the requirements for the following three Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
credentials for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. These three MCTS Credentials consist of four exams.
The MCTS credentials are:
MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications
MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Windows Applications
MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Distributed Applications
After earning all three of these credentials, candidates may earn their MCPD: Enterprise Applications Developer
certification by passing one additional required exam
