Database professionals using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 should consider the new Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credentials.

Earning the Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential will provide you with the skills needed to implement, administer, and develop Microsoft SQL Server - 2000.

Candidates just beginning a certification track should seriously consider the MCTS and MCITP certifications instead of MCDBA, as MCDBA demonstrates skills in an older product version (SQL Server 2000).

The MCDBA training classes, like all courses at DataSchenk, are instructor-led, and each instructor has hands-on experience as well as the appropriate certifications. We use only Microsoft Official curriculum for the MCDBA training classes, as well as for all Microsoft technical certification training classes. Class sizes are kept small to maximize your contact with these instructors. The certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure SQL Server.
 
Exam Requirements:
Core Exams (3 Exams Required)
MCDBA candidates are required to pass one SQL Server administration exam and one SQL Server design exam. In addition, MCDBA candidates have the option to pass either one Windows 2000 or one .NET Enterprise Servers exam to fulfill the networking systems core requirement.
Elective Exams (1 Exam Required)
In addition to the core exam requirements, you must also pass one elective exam that provides proof of expertise with a specific Microsoft server product. The following tables list Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) courses designed to help you prepare for these exams.
